Wii seems to be the biggest hitin the gaming industry from Nintendo. Since its release nearly three years ago Nintendohas sold millions of wii consoles all over the world and Sony‘s PS-3 and Microsoft’sX-box 360 are fighting hard to match up the competition. A distinguishingfeature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote,which can be used as a handheld pointing device and detect movement in three dimensions.Another distinctive feature of the console is WiiConect24, which enables it toreceive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode. What’sso special in Wii is games can use natural motions or gestures from theplayer to play the game. For games like Wii Sports Golf, we could use theWiimote like a golf club and in Wii Sports Bowling, we could use the Wiimotelike a Bowling Ball. This is really a stand out feature from other traditionalgaming consoles and has become a craze among non-traditional gamers too. Onehas to wait and see how Nintendo’s competitors respond to it.
