In 1923 he became Chief Executive Officr ofCalcutta Corporation when Deshbandhu became Mayor. In 1938 this young manbecame the fifty first President of the Indian National Congress. He did notlet people believe that there are any short cuts to Independence. He did not offer any softpaddling war. The nation would secure the advantages as a whole.
